Historic and technical information
Denomination :     7.7cm GebK L/17 M15 Origin :       ( RheinMetall)

Historic context :

RheinMetall, newcomer in the mountain guns market, designed in 1915 this 7.7cm GebirgsKanone M15' that could be disassembled into 6 separated loads. The unusual 77 mm calibre(other German mountain guns usually used 75 mm projectiles) was probably chosen mainly to fire the classical fieldgun shells.

In service within the German Army, it was gradually replaced by the Austrian Skoda mountain guns that were superior. The guns still available were then given to Turkey where they continued the war inside 4 batteries.

This gun was sometimes named '7.7cm GebirgsKanone M17'.
