Historic and technical information
Denomination :     7.5cm GebK L/17 M08 Origin :       ( RheinMetall)

Historic context :

Designed by RheinMetall in 1908 as a first attempt to reach the German mountain guns market that used to be a monopole of Krupp until then, the '7.5cm GebirgsKanone L/17 M08' was a light weapon that could be disassembled into 5 separated loads for the transportation on animals.

Only 12 of these guns were built, and the three batteries equiped with them were sent to the German colonies in Africa.

RheinMetall used the experience gained during this weapon design to realise other light mountain guns and howitzers afterwards.
