Denomination :     8.35cm M 17 K | Origin :       ( Autriche-Hongrie)           | ||||
Historic context :
One of the specificities of the warfare in the Alps was the use of concealed enemy artillery guns behind gun-ports, in caverns and in casemates. The 8 cm Schartendemontierkanone M.17 ('SchartenDemontierKanone' = 'embrasuser destructing gun'), sometimes called 8.35cm M17 was designed to destroy or dismantle such specific targets, by adapting a very long 8.35 cm L/60 barrel on the good carriage of the 10.4cm K15 gun. |
