On the description plate, we learn that 'This German 150mm Howitzer n°1177 was captured at the Ferme de Lamotte, near Estrées in France, in October 1918 by the 20th batallion A.I.F., and offered to Hunter's Hill town in 1922 in recognition to its contribution to the war'.
