Nomenclature : '7.5 cm FK M 03'

Origin : Allemagne

Istanbul Sultans were good customers of the European Gune Industry companies. Le Creusot town, in France, is still keeping souvenirs of the prestigious receptions organized by the Schneider family for its turkish customers.

As early as 1903, Turkey signed a contract with the German Krupp company for the delivery of modern 75 mm field guns, derivated from the famous 77mm FK 96 n/A. A modified version was therefore designed just for Turkey, and was named 7,5 cm feldKanone M/03. It was quite a good gun, and its performances were comparable to its German cousin ones. Between 1903 and 1907, 558 such pieces were produced.

Turkey lost a lot of its artillery equipment during the Balkans war, before 1914. Ally of the IInd Reich during the great war, they received from that moment new 7,7 FK 96 n/A guns identical to the ones of the German Army.
